Whether you're hosting a gathering, celebrating a special occasion charcuterie brings people together like nothing else. It encourages sharing, conversation, and the exploration of tastes, fostering a sense of community and connection.

Select your cheeses carefully: Vary the textures and flavours, including soft, hard and aged. A milder cheese such as Emmental is always a hit, as is a good, crunchy vintage cheddar. White Stilton, goat’s cheese & brie are the perfect bases for condiments, while a robust Blue Stilton or Roquefort pairs well with nuts and fruits.

Cut the harder varieties into bite-sized triangles, but leave softer, crumbly varieties whole for your guests to cut.

No charcuterie board is complete without cured meats such as salami, prosciutto and chorizo. Make sure that slices are separated and bundled into nests or rolled for easy serving.

Include a variety of crackers, oatcakes, breadsticks and sliced baguette to serve as a base for the meats and cheeses.

Use miniature bowls or ramekins to serve honey, chutney, chilli jam, small pickled onions or cornichons. The subtly sweet flavour of quince paste (also known as membrillo) is a perfect accompaniment to stronger flavoured cheeses.

Now you can dress the board with fresh fruits such as grapes, blackberries and figs, and a selection of dried fruits including apricots and mangos. Scatter walnuts and shelled pistachios around the board, wherever there is space.
