About...
Waterloo and Les Quatre-Bras 1815 is a complete game in the Jours de Gloire series. It covers the battles that took place on June 16 and 18, 1815, during the offensive launched in Belgium by Emperor Napoleon. The Waterloo and Les Quatre-Bras 1815 module is also the official game of the 19th Bicentennial Trophy.
On the morning of June 16, Ney discovered before him the crossroads of Quatre-Bras, firmly occupied by the vanguard of Wellington's army. At 2 p.m., he launched his attack. All afternoon, the battle raged, with heavy losses on both sides. At the end of the day, the men fell from fatigue and the fight ceased without a real victor. The same day, Napoleon defeated the Prussians at Ligny.
Two days later, Napoleon found himself facing Wellington south of Waterloo. Both armies had about 70,000 men. Napoleon's plan was simple: to carry out a central attack against the English, after having fixed their wings. But things did not go as planned. Hougoumont Farm resisted all the assaults, the offensive of the I Corps was cut short and the mad charges launched by Ney were not enough to make the enemy give in. Soon the Prussians emerged on the right of the French. Napoleon then had to fight a defensive battle. The Guard attacked one last time. The Guard retreated and it was the end: the great Napoleonic epic died on the evening of June 18, 1815, on the plain of Waterloo.
Waterloo and Les Quatre-Bras 1815 are battles that present players with many challenges: assaults on fortified farms, cavalry charges, organization of large artillery batteries, management of reserves or exploitation of reinforcements. Will Napoleon manage to find the flaw in the English defensive system? Will Wellington have the courage to hold his line against the best army in the world? Will Blücher arrive in time to decide the fate of the day?
